Alrighty Then....
When I started this site, part of my goals for it were high. For being named "The Seafood Department", this site has quite a lot of bitchassness going on. Where is the seafood?? I've lost sight of my goals... :( Hence the poll to the right side of your screen.) At the time of this post, you have a few hours left to vote. I have not cooked anything consisting of seafood since the last time I opened a can of sardines. After the votes are tallied, I will choose a recipe and cook it on Saturday night. Pictures will be posted. Opinions of Stevity Steve and possibly others will be taken into consideration. Difficulty level, taste and appeal will all be ranked. And I think that I will also have a Fish/Shellfish of the week, coming soon. Feel free to suggest any fish you are too nervous to cook yourself for me to assasinate (er, prepare) or any cooking methods, or special recipe. Here's to a bright future for this bloggy!

Well, how about that Monkfish? It appears to be the red-headed-step-child in the seafood case, and at a premium price. If you can come up with a tasty recipe and method, I'll get brave enuff to tackle it. Last night I did my first plank cooking on the grill. The planks kept catching on fire even at lowest heat, the fish burning on the edges and raw in the middle. After a few indecent words and a dash for the tongs, I wrestled the fillets into the microwave to finish cooking and served them with salad. Yummy. The planks were not salvageable.
....and ain't my grandson the handsomest little man you ever met??? (careful, fish sales depend on your answer)
PLEASE Dont change the blog. What brought me here, what keeps me here is the realness. Your honest, true emotions and feelings. Its raw, its interesting. I can identify with your struggles and learn from them. I get the feeling that Im not so all alone and that yes, other people go through some shit as well.
Hey there, Fatty! I won't change completely. Both of these jobs have an obscene amount of bitchery worth writing about. But I have to balance out all of the stinky-ness with a fresh recipe or two. Sounds like your job sucks too. Let me know if you'd like to join my team!
LOL @ Mrs. Silverpen! Did you soak the planks for a while? And your grandson is so darn beautiful! He's so rosy and sweet like that baby on the jars of mashed prunes and such. ^__^
I got out of customer service a few years ago, and gladly so. I had enough beat downs to know when it was time to move on. And back then we didnt have blogs to vent/let off some steam. Not that my new job is so great - but at least the pay is better and I dont have to deal with too many people (finance).
Dont get me wrong, I definitely love to cook and would love your expert opinion. I will try anything once. You just have a great blog and keep it coming.
I have to agree a bit with fatty. The posts were wonderful releases of emotion. I cut off the end of my right middle finger on a meat saw because of a terrible customer. It was good to know I was not the only downtrodden smiling peon in the food industry. Glad I ain't doing that now!
Yeah, I soaked those planks for over an hour. I may sand 'em down and give 'em another chance to smoke up the back yard. I know my grill needs a cleaning to remove fat deposits and old chunks of I-don't-want-to-know from the grates.
I'm still gonna hammer on ya to get that writing skill into a book or movie script...
squid, squid, squid. cook a whole squid. that would be daring. and good blogging, too...
well, where's the squid? you could do octopus. how about sea snails? i love cephalapods.
